Increasingly we need IT services in Colleges that can respond to need, not only respond to highly formalised and planned strategic requests. What I mean is, sometimes we (ok me) see a really excellent service/eportfolio/cool thing that could never have been forseen and therefore doesn't figure in my strategic plan. I see it...I want it....I can't have it under our current regime as i haven't planned it 5 yrs in advance and the kit isn't there. So bring on virtualisation if it allows us to be flexible and timely in the services we provide for our learners.
